The other reality is that they are wondering about your bottom line performance. I don't have your problem (my main Encore problem is the dreaded PGC error), but if you have "reliable" or hit and miss problems you either must have a reliable workaround, or another authoring program for getting good results. I've done just what you have (though usually on a low expectation job), but those occasions do not reflect well on us.

A good workman never blames his tools - even when they deserve it - because they are the tools he has and has decided to rely on.

And yes, Adobe needs to pay attention to such problems, because they do drive decisions about the tools we decide to acquire.
