I have CS3 Prod Prem on a supposedly very capable pc, yet I see the kind of performance I saw on the 5-year old computer I just replaced. In programs like Encore, Premiere, and After Effects, I get slow response to some button clicks, momentary and lasting freezes.

The pc is an HPd5000t with Core 2 Quad 2.66GHz, 8 Gigs RAM, SATA RAID Drives internal and external. Vista 64-bit.

Since I've only had the computer a couple of weeks, I am inclined to think there is something wrong with it, despite passing all its diagnostics. Hoever, I had similar problems on my older pc, so I may be doing something wrong. I am good about cleaning and defrags. I am not familiar with Vista. I welcome any tips.

I suspect that is the cause of your troubles. Vista 64 is not a supported operating system, at least not by Encore.

Yeah, I think only Photoshop CS4 is designed for 64-bit. However, CS3 should still run as 32-bit apps unless I need a service pack or something.
