That being, that adobe audition isn't smart enough to use two different
devices for recording and playback.




This has nothing whatsoever to do with Audition - it's a limitation of ASIO, the driver everybody wanted, but that comes with significant snags. The biggest one being that because it accesses the soundcard directly and cuts out a lot of the OS, it can only handle one device at a time. Take it up with Steinberg... Audition used to use WDM, and this could use as many soundcards as you could fit...

Does anyone have any ideas of a way around this?




Use the free ASIO4ALL driver - this lets Audition's ASIO driver interface with WDM-driven cards - as many as you have fitted. If you install and select this driver, everything turns up as available in Audition again.

It's not Audition that isn't smart, it's ASIO.
