Suddenly... keyword searches return zero results. Experienced commercial user... checked all the usual and obvious suspects (reset cache, reindex folders, etc.).
Occured after a bad CD crashed system. Program seems fine in every other respect. Looking to others to see if a program reinstall is called for, and if so, will the keyword list be lost in the process? Thanks for any advice. |

Yes, launch/Ctrl reset/All
I don't have time to trouble shoot... am waiting to reinstall pending input about loss of keyword directory. I don't know if a data file maintaining the directory persists following a reinstall. Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks! |

If there is an error in the cache or other preference files a re-install will not correct them as they are established after installation.
A re-install is a lot more complex and time consuming than simply resetting preferences. Depending on where the error is re-install may be necessary but I would certainly try resetting preferences as outlined in post 1 above first. There are several posts on the keyword file and how to save it. It has been at least 4 months ago as I remember. Search is not too great so might have to try different ideas and then look through all the posts in that category. Sometimes a gem response gets slipped in a question that is not directly related to question. Try searches for keyword, network sharing of keywords, re-install and ? in search and also knowledgebase search. You can also look in your directory under Adobe and see if anything pops out at you. |

Curt- Yes, thank you. As I said previously, I've reset preferences. I appreciate your input regarding re-install and it's limitations.
I found by accident that by individually accessing (within Bridge) each folder containing images, keyword search is restored on a folder-by-folder basis. Waiting for thumbnails isn't necessary, only long enough for the thumbnail placeholder to appear - thankfully. With thousands of folders, it's a hassle, but it works. My hope is that the root cause of this issue doesn't reappear in the future. Thanks again for your input. Les De Moss |

Be careful in the speed of your changing folders. If the spinning arrow on the bottom left side is present (meaning it is still loading) it is not wise to change tasks as errors can occur in the cache. This necessitates resetting preferences. Hope that CS4 is a little faster.
