I'm a home user of PM. I've used it since version 2.0- or 1987, whichever came first! I never had any training, just some help from someone who had. Consequently, I've learned to use it intuitively. I have Version 7 on my computer, which I'm going to replace soon. Unfortunately, the new computer will come with Microsoft Vista, which is incompatable with PM.
I can't use Publisher because I need to work with a commercial printer who prints a monthly newsletter I publish. I've looked at InDesign, but I think it's got more features than I need. The good thing is I can use my PM files with InDesign. The bad news is it's pricy! Suggestions? |

Upgrades from PM6.5 or 7 to Indesign3 are still available at a huge discount (around 70%).
Alternatively, zap the hard drive and install WinXP (making sure you have the required drivers first). Iechyd da! John 08:59 22/09/2008 BST |

The thing is Doug, InDesign can be as simple or complex as you wish. I started using InDesign from CS (ver 3). As a former PageMaker user, I found it pretty straightforward to use. Use it like PM by all means and then use all the special effects when needed.

Strangely enough, I have just bought a Sony Viao VGN NR38 laptop with Windows Vista SP1 installed, and I installed my PageMaker 7.01a perfectly - and am using with (so far) no problems! Is this unusual? The only thing missing is that the Help topics do not run, but I have got round that by creating a short-cut to the c01bc.htm file.
