I sometimes record audio using the record what you hear through my soundcard. (vinyl and such) I'm using Cool edit 2.0 for this. My PC is pretty fast. I have about 1 Gig of ram and dont have many programs running in the background but if I even touch my PC when its recording I get a second of silenec in my recording. I have it set to ..

Are there better settings to optimize for recording through your sound card
