Default Deinterlace 60i to 30p for better playback?

I shoot in SD 60i. I've heard anecdotal stories about people taking their 60i movies, deinterlacing into a 30p DVD, and saying it has much better playback quality. How can I test this?

<< Surely DVD are all 25i/30i and not 50i/60i >>

The nomenclature is all messed up - inside Adobe's products and on the web. Let's just stick to 30 frames per second or 60 fields to be clear.
