Encore crashing/failing due to audio import weirdness.
Encore seems to have a problem with multiplexed (or formerly multiplexed) Blu-Ray audio. Here is a problem I've encountered repeatedly. If anybody knows how to work around it or whether a bugfix is in the works, that'd be swell.
If I render my AVCHD project for Blu-Ray in Premiere and choose to multiplex the result, when I import the resulting file into Encore, it usually crashes. The first symptom is that, when placing the newly-imported asset on a timeline, the audio track appears WAYYYY longer than the video. That is, it appears that the audio goes on and on beyond the end of the video. From here, one of two things might happen:
1) Encore immediately crashes (shortly after displaying the timeline).
2) When building/previewing/etc. the timeline, Encore will either crash, or will display a "memory allocation failure" error.
I've observed the same problem with my raw AVCHD footage from my camcorder, as well as Blu-Ray output from Corel VideoStudio. In these cases, I have to demux the streams and import them separately. And in both cases the audio registers with Encore as being far longer than it should, resulting either in a crash or an error.
Thoughts? I'm doubting all these encoders are wrong, so I'm going to blame an Encore bug for now.
Cheers,
Aaron
