Morning Len & Michael,

It just did not work Len. Something on my end. In the short term I am going to set that aspect aside, as I did, and move on to other things. With your suggestion, and Murray and Kath's as well, I moved on to setting up a mysql database. Not really any different than what I used to do back in the old days with Borland's Quattro Pro spreadsheet program. I loved that program—simpler and easier for me to understand. Of course just when I was getting the hand of relational databases they moved on to other things.<grin>

I did avail myself of the opportunity to redesign, somewhat, my little site. I had a blast (lots of fun) manipulating the table I had set to look almost like an Indesign document I had scratched up. And I do mean I had a blast with manipulating the table setup. You can see a sample at: <http://brethrenarchives.com/fantasy/tsr/pages/covers/2100.html> And for those of you who's eyes it makes hurt I am going to change the setup.<vbg>

Thanks for chiming in Michael. You don't know how much assistance your site has been to me over the years. 'Tis been an extreme pleasure walking through your site.

I seem to be catching on to what your posting said. I am going to back up my site, create a template page with your suggestions in place, and see how that works. Your couple of lines of code should do exactly what I need it to do—swap out a set of code.

With this little snippet I should be able to swap out the two thumbnails and set the "printing" text to whatever I chose. One question though.

Will I have to have multiple divs? In other words a div for each printing (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.)? That should be easy as pie <grin> to attach to the little table on the left of my page. Click on the number and viola! That does rule out the "next thumbnail /previous thumbnail" idea in conjunction with the "click text". 'Twould be a snap for one of you folks but like getting teeth pulled for me.

Now if you ever need a digital archive set up just ask and I'm your man. Or archiving 250 year old court documents. They work beautifully as backgrounds on web pages. You just can't create an old document in Photoshop that compares with an original 400dpi color scan. To get rid of the old writing just use the stamp tool. I have thousands of 'em to pull from.

To one and all here in America, and to others around the World, Happy Thanksgiving. :-)

Len and Michael,

I gave it the best shot I can and can still not get it to work. In the file posted at <http://brethrenarchives.com/fantasy/tsr/pages/covers/changeimage.html> you can see that I stripped a file down to it's basic. It is only 27 lines of code.

The premise is to click on a link, the "Nov. 1993" link, and have it change the top image to be the same one as the bottom image. I can get Michael's text to display.

However when I change the html reference to read the same as between the divs of the bottom image nothing happens. The bottom image is only there as a reference for myself and to have the code handy. Michael says in his online training page, thank you Michael, that one can swap out any HTML code. So it must be me making the error.

Wayne,

Just gong back to your PHP/MySQL problem.

Reviewing your posts I'm not clear whether when you run the script you are actually seeing PHP code on the page as {$row["lastname"]**.

If you are it indicates that the PHP interpreter is not running and there is something wrong with your WAMP installation.

Len,

I had gotten onto that thought myself. So I did another fresh start and used different data, the whole shebang, and got the same results.

I used the information supplied in Michhael's online tutorial. I allowed WAMP to automatically install. I can create and edit a database, as I said it is not much different than using Quattro Pro or other spreadsheet programs, using MySQL. But again I got the same results.

So I uninstalled WAMP and reinstalled it. Same results once again.

I think for the moment I am going to set it aside and instead turn my attention to trying to get the "swap HTML" to work. Hopefully Michael will get back to me. His suggestion is very good and should work as long as I can get by my problem.

Or perhaps I need to implement the "changeImage"? I do see that it is not one of the Javascript functions recognized by GoLive. Again I know enough to be dangerous.

Are you able to connect with a different FTP program? Getting an error message? Need a better idea of what's not working and what you're already doing.
