Ah! Problem solved. The free "xport" demuxer (http://www.w6rz.net/) seems to do the trick. Yessssssss!!! Now I finally have a workable AVCHD workflow: Cut main AVCHD video program in Corel VideoStudio, demux with xport, import AC3 and video streams into Encore CS4.

I'll play with it more tonight. Hard to beat $0 for xport and $50 for VideoStudio. I'm still bummed that CS4 (Premiere and Encore) can't take care of this, though.
