i'm getting the below error when trying to install the software package

The adobe production studio requires that at least windows xp service pack2 be installed in order to run properly. please upgrade your operating system and then restart the installer

the minimum requirements for the adobe production studio are:
-windows xp service pack 2
- intel pentium 4 processor or better
- 4 gb of hard disk space
- 512 mb of ram
- cpu supporting the sse/sse2 instruction set

i've got xp service pack 3 and as for hardware its way over the minimum requirement so i'm not quite sure why its not allowing me to install this.
i've been told that service pack 3 be the issue?

SP3 wasn't out when Adobe released the software. SP2 was the highest you could get.

I wonder if the installer isn't looking for SP2 "or higher", but instead is only looking for SP2.

if thats the case would there be a update patch to resolve this issue?

Yeah, it's called CS4. It'll be out in about two weeks.
