Default Saving as PDF/X-1a and can't get cropmarks to work

I could do this until recently but now it is not working.

Basically When I switch the compatibility to anything after Acrobat 4 I cannot get cropmarks in my PDF files. Any ideas?

What version of Illustrator are you using?

When you save to PDF, in the "Marks and Bleed" section make sure you are turning the marks on and setting a minimum of .125" bleed on all sides.

Also, in order to meet PDF/X-1a requirements, the PDF compatibility must be Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3).
