Sorry... but..
1) Can this be done to a Text object 2) Does this work on Transform... Appearance does not show Transformation.. only Fills and Strokes.. I am using CS3. this thing drives me nuts..CorelDraw had "Clear Transformation" command which returns to original state with the click of a mouse. thanks |

Wade - Unless I'm completely mistaken, gjohung is not talking about type that has had Effects applied to it. He's talking about transformed type. The Appearance panel is no help at all in untransforming transformed type.
For any transforms that appear in the Character panel, hold down the Command key and click on the icon in front of the appropriate field - it resets it to the default (zero or 100%). For rotated or skewed type, select it as an object, cut, drag out a text box, and paste. Keeps its formatting without the rotation or skewing. |

Let's make sure we're talking about the same thing here, Doug.
In CS3, I have two separate text objects, one point type, the other area type. Both text objects have been rotated out of horizontal. I use an arrow pointer to select the point type, and cut (or copy) it. With the Type tool I click on the artboard and paste, or I drag out a type box and paste. The text pastes with all its attributes, but it is now horizontal. Works the same with area type. |
