System details:
Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 8 GB Ram Software details: Framemaker 8.0 p236 Adobe Acrobat 3D version 8 Adobe Distiller 8.1 Technical Communicator Suite Thanks all in advance for any suggestions. When I print a book to PDF, my resulting document seems to move my document heading bookmarks "down" a chapter. For example, lets say I have a book with the following documents: Chapter One, title: Dogs Heading one: Mutts Heading two: Labradoodles Chapter title: Cats Heading one: Alley cats Heading two: Persians Chapter title: Birds Heading one: Parrots Heading two: Grackles When I print, my resulting PDF orders my bookmarks as follows: Dogs <no entries> Cats Mutts Labradoodles Birds: Alley Cats Persians and so on When I print, I select "Generate Acrobat Data" in the Print Document window. In the PDF setup, I have Chapter Title, Chpater one and Heading 1 and 2 selected. I do not have separate text flows in my document. Thanks much, Robin S |

Robin,
What is the Chapter One paragraph format? Do you mean it should be: Chapter title: Dogs Heading one: Mutts Heading two: Labradoodles Chapter title: Cats Heading one: Alley cats Heading two: Persians Chapter title: Birds Heading one: Parrots Heading two: Grackles If so, then in the PDF dialog select just Chapter title, Heading one, and Heading two. Or maybe I am misunderstanding something. Van |

Van:
Correct, it should be as you display. But I have Chapter Title, Heading one and Heading two selected and Dogs has Chapter Title paragraph format applied. This happens in all my documents. Art: Yes, articles are set to thread by text frame. The bookmarks are expanded through the Default level. Thanks much! Robin |

Hi Art,
No- if i open a file independently and print it, all the bookmarks appear in order. I've just been rearranging the headings once they are in acrobat as a workaround for this. So...don't sweat it too much. Thanks again for all your help! Robin S |

Hi Robin,
If this turns out to be a software bug instead of user error, I think it might be worth a little sweat. It would be important to know if FM had this problem. Please consider maintaining this thread until we can help you get it right or determine that the problem is with the software. Russ |

Robin,
The fact that you can print component files correctly would lead me to think that there's either something wrong in the book file's PDF profile or in the book file itself. Double check which PDF job option the book file is using to print (And which one books that print correctly use) , and maybe try changing that. And, when you have a couple of minutes to play, I'd try setting up a new book file and adding a couple of the chapter files to it, and test print from that. If it works, add some more chapters and test, and if it works, I'd recreate the book and go with it. Art |
