I would like to set the file associations for NEF files as Photoshop (as the default) and Nikon Capture. If I browse to Nikon Capture, Bridge will allow me to set both it and Photoshop as associations, but insists on making Capture the default. If I then click on Photoshop, to attempt to make it the default, Bridge won't allow Capture as an association. How can I have both programs listed, but with Photoshop as the default (so that if I double-click on the thumbnail, Photoshop will open)? Thanks.

I have also noticed a problem with File Associations in Bridge CS4. When double-clicking on a .jpg thumbnail in the Content window, I get an error message saying "Paint" can not open this file. In the Edit>Preferences>File Type Associations, for .jpg files the choices are "Paint 5.1", "Internet Explorer 7", and "Browse". I "Browse to Photoshop CS4.exe and the .jpg preference is set to Photoshop CS4 as expected. Double-clicking the thumbnail now works to open Photoshop for the rest of the session.
The next time I start Bridge CS4, the .jpg preference is still Photoshop CS4; but, when I get an error message saying "Paint" can not open this file. I have to go to Edit>Preferences>File Type Associations again and "Browse" to Photoshop before the association will work. How are the default associations changed? Why was "Paint" used as the default for .jpg files? |
