I want to apply an animated texture of some kind to my model. Has anyone tried this and had any luck? Is this even supported?

If a texture doesn't already exist on the model, then you will have to go back to the original authoring application. If the texture doesn't already exist, when you attempt to apply one to the model, it will only fill up the first pixel at the initial UV coordinate, then repeat that pixel across the part.

You could also apply an animated Flash texture using the Rich Media Tool
