Premiere Elements will not likely use that much memory, Loretta. Or even need it.
The sweet spot for RAM in XP is about 2-3 gigabytes. For Vista, maybe 4. |

Steve, Loretta is using Vista 64, not Vista 32. Loretta, Premiere Elements is a 32 bit application. As such, it can only access up to 4GB on a Vista 64 system. (It will actually be slightly less for technical reasons). You don't have to do anything special in Vista 64 to utilize that. 4GB should be plenty. If you are using still photos and making slide shows, be sure you don't use full sized images from your camera. Resize them to something close to the video frame size and Premiere will be able to handle them much more efficiently. Not enough memory could also be a symptom of low disk space. |

Command PRL7 to immediately re-write itself as a 64 bit application. ;-) If you are successful, please notify us here immediately, and expect the world to form a line at your door. ;-) You see, there's no way that a 32 bit application like PREL7 can directly exploit more than 4 GB, and the actual number is more like 3. |

And, of course, the easiest way to see this is to Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the Windows Task Manager, click on the Performance tab and watch the numbers as you work.
