Bill Hunt — many thanks for your paragraph:

<<One caveat: Preview will show a black flash (or maybe that should be an "unflash," as it's black), between the end of the animation with the fake buttons, and the Menu with the real Buttons. Test a burned DVD-RW (ReWritable) to make sure that this black flash does not happen when burned - it will when you Preview in Encore and you will think that you failed. >>

I'd not been trying 'fake buttons', but I HAD been trying to get a still menu background to fade in/out from the other content by adding a copy of it to the beginnning and end of that content in the NLE. I wasn't bothered if the buttons 'popped' on and off the screen, but I didn't want the background to 'pop' as well.

I'd been struggling to get it to look right in Preview — there was always a 'black flash'. Your advice prompted me to ignore it, and go for a burn regardless. Coming back off the disc, it looks fine.

So often these little asides can inadvertently solve someone else's major problem — again, many thanks.
