Hi,
I just upgraded to photoshop cs4 from cs2, and I noticed that a feature which I really, really loved is now gone, and that is the Use Adobe Dialog option in the open/save/save as file browser. I don't see any option for this anymore...was it taken out in CS4 or CS3? Or is there an option to enable it that I'm just missing? This let me access my favorite folders on the right side of the file browser to easily navigate there, which It's very much missed ![]() |

It is there in CS3, gone in CS4. However, if 'favorites' is all you desire then you can navigate to a folder you wish to be a 'favorite', then click on the folder icon with a star in it in the upper right and add the current folder to 'favorites'. Favorites is also accessed by clicking on the folder.

Ah that stinks that they removed it.
I wonder why? That was SO useful!I found that folder with the star you were talking about, but it's only in the open dialog..not in the save where it's really needed, unless I'm missing it but I don't think so. I'm using WinXP. |

Yes, Adobe dialog is gone. But the Version control is still there. You could create an adobe drive and the driver will show in the open/save dialog just like a network connection.
The favorite icon only exist in Open dialog. |

To add a location to the left-hand side of the Open and Save dialog boxes in
Vista it's same as XP, use the group policy editor: Go to Start > Run > gpedit.msc > User Configuration > Adminstrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer > Common Open File Dialog Enable "Items displayed inPlaces Bar" type the path to the desired location |

hi, i just found this forum, because i searched for exactly this topic..
and yes, adobe removed this feature in cs4. see it here: Adobe Photoshop CS4 * Adobe Version*Cue Quote:
i still cant believe it, they removed it..that feature became so essential for a proper and fast workflow.. in my environment the most users never use any extended features of version cue because the projects are just to small or simply need no network connection. but everyone i know uses the "adobe dialog".. so i think about contacting adobe, but having in mind, of what fighting it is, to get software features in my company, i am just demotivated, to do anything against it. does anybody have experience in contacting adobe? would it be worth it? anyway, big thanks to Rick Moore for the explanation of the "common open file dialog" option! i will definately try this! thx again cu sascha Last edited by aphexx; 12-23-2008 at 04:41 PM. |
